Noted film play back singer Mr. Nihal of Hyderabad rendered Ghazals which received good response from the music lovers of the city. The programme was arranged under the aegis of VMDA and was very well organized by Mr. G.R.K.Prasad (Rambabu) who is also a trustee of VMDA. Mr. Vijay Kumar, a chief patron of fine arts in the city along with Mr. C.S.N.Raju, founder president of VMDA were some of the elite who graced the occasion. Mr. Nihal in his concert presented a variety of musical numbers that portrayed his repertoire.

Annamacharya Bhavana VahiniAnnamacharya Bhavana VahiniTheir rendition had the clarity both in diction and expression aspects and received the thunderous applause of audience, who thoroughly enjoyed the devotional music concert that was presented by Chelikani Sadguru Priya, Dheeraja, Praseeda, Sindoora and Vaishnavi under the aegis of Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Temple on Saturday 14th March, 2009. Sri. Murthy who has coordinated the recital has highlighted the salient features of the concert and blessed the artistes.

manjariTiny tots of Bharata Natyalaya had entertained the audience with a rich amalgam of Indian classical and modern dance on the evening of 22nd February at Kalabharathi auditorium. Ably lead by Manjari who has immense potential to become a truly wonderful classical dancer in the years to come, a group of dancers performed manjari Bharatanatyam that was followed by a rocking western dance performance by members of Sri Nookambika Dance group. Special congratulations to Smt. Damayanthi Amarnath, a leading entrepreneur who conceived and designed the show in a tasteful manner. Kudos to Smt. Meenakshi, from the renowned Razzmatazz group for her role in presenting the show in her own unique style. The artistes of the day were felicitated by Mr. Ravindran, Principal, Westwood International School and Smt & Sri. Garuda Pattabhi who are the key persons of inspiration and resource for the show.

Kum. Impana KulkarniWhen precision meets with pristine pure classicism then there would emerge a rare beauty of rare kind. Music and dance lovers of Vizag city have exactly witnessed such wonderful dance programme on the evening of 07th February at Kalabharathi auditorium.

Kum. Impana Kulkarni one of the prime students of the reputed Bharatanatyam Guru Natyacharya sri. Avasarala Rukmaji Rao, Principal, Nritya Kalabharati, has performed in her Arangetram recital that has brought laurels to the lineage of Adayar Kalakshetram samprayadayam to which she belongs. A student of grade IX of Navy Children School, Visakhapatnam, Impana is also a versatile caranatic vocalist having learnt from Sri. Varanasi Venkata Balashankaram.

Her expressions and precise movements throughout the performance stood as a testimony for her perseverance and also hold a promise for a bright future. She was supported by her guru on nattuvangam and Sri. M. Venkata Rao on vocal, Sri. D. Raja Rao on flute, Sri. K. Lakshmi Kantam on Veena, Sri. K.V.S. Prasad on Violin, Sri. M. Edukondalu on violin, Sri. T.N. Chaitanya on morning and the makeup was done by Sri. Surya Rao. Sri. M.R.L. Rao, Editor of the Mihira magazine was the chief guest and Sri. G.S.A. Narasimham, Secretary, Bharateeya Vidya Kendram was the guest of honour.

ADBM Trust have performed devotional musicSenior students of ADBM Trust have performed devotional music at Sri Raghavendra Swamy mutt on the evening of 7th February. Ms. Harini, Ms. J. Sravya, Kotu Sisters (Ms. Jagruthi and Ms. Srilekha) and Mr. Satish Kumar in the company of Mr. Pavan on violin and Mr. Kamesh on mridangam have rendered compositions of Saint composer Sriman Thaallapaka Annamacharya. Their presentation also included their solo performances which were well received by the audience. Sri. Murthy, the coordinator of Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini has summed up the concert and blessed the artistes.

Sri Saraswathi Sahitha Panchayatana Yaga MahotsavamThe auspicious Sri Saraswathi Sahitha Panchayatana Yaga Mahotsavam was held on 1st February, 2009 at TTD Kalyana Mandapam, MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam organized by "Sri Sarada Vidya Niketan" (Foundation Course Academy). Sri Saraswathi Sahitha Panchayatana Yaga Mahotsavam Its principal Mr V.Sai Kanth Sharma has conducted the puja which was attended by number of devotees along with their children to seek the blessings of goddess of wisdom. The visitors attended included quite prominent citizens of the city and to name a few B.Satyannarayana, Vice Chancellor, A.U. D.V. Subba Rao, Ex-Mayor, Prasada Reddy, Registrar, A.U., Dr.Vempati Rama Narasimham, (KGH), Medha Dhakshinamurthy, Hayagreeva, Sudharsana, and Ganapathi. Smt. Vijayasree, Director of Sri Sri Music Academy, MVP Colony had conducted a variety musical programme which has won the appreciation of one and all. The choir members have sung in good coordination along with the instrumentalists and the solo performance by mridangists is worth special mention. Later some of the disciples of former music composer of All India Radio, (Late) Sri. Tirupathi Ramanuja Suri have rendered old melodies of the masters' compositions and received the applause of the gathering. They included Dr. Tyagaraj, Sri. Sarma, Sri.P. Nalinikanth, Sri. Satyanand, Sri. V. V.Sarma, Sri. Krishnamachari, Sri. Nagu, Smt. Sailaja. The programme was coordinated By Mr. Achari.

Guru P. Bharani Shankar a noted dance maestro along with his team of talented disciples ably lead by his son Mr. P. Uday Shankar who is also one of his prime disciples had colourfully celebrated anniversary of their institution Sri Ambikeswara Kuchipudi Nritya Niketan at Kalabharathi auditorium on 1st February, 2009. Their team had won the critical acclaim with their meticulous presentation combined with aesthetic appeal. The dance items were carefully choreographed and were a feast to eyes. Sri. K.Prasada Reddy, former chairman A.P.Technical Board. Govt. of A.P. graced the occassion and felicitated the artists.

Classical MusicChamber of Music, a prominent association committed to the cause of classical music celebrated its second anniversary in grand style on 31st January and 1st February, 2009 at "Krishna Aashramam", the residential complex of famous freedom fighter of yesteryears late sri. Tenneti Viswanadham. The inaugural day witnessed spirited classical concerts by Master. S. Parthiva performing solo on Violin. He was well accompanied on mridangam by another talented youngster Master. V.S. Jaideep Sarma. The second half of the evening's event was a vocal performance by Kum B.L. Surya Teja who was accompanied on violin by Dr. Smt. Pantula Rama and on mridangam by Sri. D.Dharma Rao (Staff Artist. AIR. Vizag).
On the Second day Dr.Tyagaraj Dwaram performed a Vocal concert. He was ably assisted by Sri. G.V.S. Raghu Ram on voilin and Sri.M. Kamesh on mridangam. Sri. Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao, a veteran violinist had enthralled the audience with his masterly presentation which commenced with a Ghana raga panchakam Taanam and many an item followed suit. He was supported on violin by up and coming artiste Kum. Ch. Ramya Kiranmayi and Mr.Pappu Jayadev on mridangam. The function was graced by many learned musicians like Smt. Vasundhara Devi, Sri, I.V.L. Sastry, Smt. Jalajakshi, Smt. Pappu Padmathi Paramahamsa, Sri. A.Ramalinga Sastry to name a few. Sri. M.S.N.Murthy and Dr. Smt. Pantula Rama have coordinated the programme to the appreciation of one and all.

Devotees were thrilled with the rendition of the two little girls who performed devotional music at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Temple on 31st of January. The programme was organised by Sri Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini. The artistes of the day were Naimisha Giri and K. Srvya both students of Bethany School studying in class 6. They had rendered devotional compositions of Sriman Tallapaka Annacharya. Mr.Ch. Pavan and Mr. Kamesh accompanied them on violin and mridangam respectively. Sri. Murthy, Organiser of the function felicitated the artistes.

'Sri Tyagaraja Aaaradhana'

Sri Tyagaraja AaaradhanaThe musical fraternity of the city paid rich tributes to one of the Carnatic Music Trinity Sadguru Sri Tyagaraja Swamy to commemorate the occasion of 'Sri Tyagaraja Aaaradhana'.

The festival began on a high note on the evening of 14th January, at Kalabharathi auditorium with an inaugural music concert 'Navarasa Maalika' (compositions correlating the nine emotions or feelings). It was very well organized and presented by a team of reputed musicians skillfully lead by Sri. M.S.N.Murthy and Smt. Pantula Rama both top class musicians in the circuit. It was graced by the presence of stalwarts like 'Sangita Kalanidhi' Sri. Nedunuri Krishnamurty and 'Vidwan' Sri. S.R. Janaki Raman who was the chief guest of the day.

Sri Tyagaraja AaaradhanaThe following day about 350 artistes from far and wide rendered the 'Pancharatnams' (five gems of compositions composed by saint Tyagaraja) which was followed by performances by musical tributes from various artistes from  Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East & West Godavari Districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The show was well conducted by Sri. C.S.N. Raju, Chief Patron, VMDA, Sri. I.V.L. Sastry, Secretary TAT, Sri. G.R.K.Prasad (Rambabu), Sri.Pantula Gopala Rao, Sri. Sripada Venkanna and other dignitaries of Tyagaraja Aradhana Trust and VMDA.
