Ceremonious Farewell to Mr. PK Bishnoi

Mr. PK Bishnoi, CMD of RINL-VSP was given a warm and ceremonious farewell on the eve of his retirement on 31st July on attainment of superannuation by the Directors and senior officials on Saturday. Mr. PK Bishnoi joined RINL-VSP in 2004 as Director (Finance) and was instrumental in the accreditation of ISO 9001 to the Finance wing of RINL/VSP. He was elevated to the post of CMD of RINL in 2007. During his tenure the company sustained high level of performance and executed the rejuvenation and modernization plans as well as expansion. He paved the way for the next phase of expansion to 11 MT and has set the target to reach 20 MT. He played a stellar role in the conferment of "Navratna" status to RINL and acquisition of Bird Group of Companies by RINL. He synergised the efforts of various PSUs like SAIL, CIL, NTPC and NMDC to pursue coal assets overseas through ICVL. The Gold medal by the Honble Prime Minister of India at the 95th Indian Science Congress, the Udyog Ratan Award by His Excellency the Governor of Jharkand, the Best CEO Award, HR Excellence Awards are some of the many awards presented to him for his outstanding contribution. In his farewell message Mr. Bishnoi thanked RINL-VSP Collective for their whole-hearted cooperation and total support in discharging his duties and responsibilities over the last 7 years. However he has cautioned that the steel industry has become highly competitive and with many private players penetrating with huge capacities, cost leadership would be crucial for the long term survival of the company. He wished all the employees all the success asserting that that the new CMD Mr. AP Choudhary and Directors of RINL-VSP are extremely competent and highly dedicated to take the company to greater heights. He had earnestly requested them to continue to exhibit their dedication and commitment with utmost devotion and discipline on which lies the success of RINL-VSP.

A Ceremonial Passing out Parade was held at Shipwright School 29 Jul 11, on the occasion of passing out of Shipwright Apprentice Course 01/2009 batch from the School. Commodore HS Chopra, Chief Staff Officer (Personnel & Administration), Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command was the Chief Guest on the Occasion. He reviewed the Parade and presented the Trophy for the First in Overall Order of Merit to Balushankar, Shipwright Apprentice and Best in parade Amit Pant, Shipwright Apprentice respectively. The Shipwright Apprentices had undergone 117 weeks of training in various facets of Naval Architecture, Ship Building and Maintenance of ships at Shipwright School. They were also exposed to other aspects of naval life like Parade and Drill, Small Arms Firing, Sports and Adventure activities. A valedictory function is also scheduled to be held on 30 Jul 11, which will culminate in a Cultural Programme presented by talented enthusiasts from the under trainee Shipwright Artificers and the Ships Company of the School. The Officer-in-charge, Captain Vivek Thapar, Command Construction Officer will be the Chief Guest at the function.

EYE SCREENING CAMP HELD AT INS KALINGA

INS Kalinga, in association with INHS Kalyani organised a Free Eye Screening Camp for civilians of nearby villages today, 29 Jul 11 at the Medical Inspection Room at Kalinga as part of Community Welfare Services. The camp was inaugurated by Surgeon Commodore B Fanthome, Commanding Officer, INHS Kalyani. A total of 210 persons attended the Camp. Eye tests were carried out and persons found with Cataract, Refractive error, Glaucoma and Corneal blindness were referred to entitled hospitals for further management. Patients advised to wear glasses by specialists were given spectacles free of cost during the Camp. Commanding Officer, INS Kalinga Commodore KLN Chary, VSM and Surgeon Captain PK Mishra, Assistant Command Medical Officer, Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command were also present at the Camp.

INDIA TO EMERGE AS A STRONG STEEL PLAYER: CMD of RINL-VSP

Mr. PK Bishnoi asserted that with availability intelligent workforce, expertise in steel making, high quality iron ore reserves, favourable demographic profile and conducive investment climate India would emerge as one of the strong players in the world steel industry. Mr. Bishnoi was speaking as Co-Chairman of ASSOCHAMs National Council on Iron & Steel at the 5 th India Steel Summit in New Delhi on Tuesday. The 5th India Steel Summit with the theme Capacity, Value Creation and Competitiveness, is a sequel to the earlier summits held in previous years and is a part of ongoing efforts by ASSOCHAM to catalyze the development of steel sector in the country. Mr. Bishnoi stated that even in tough times of economic slowdown, the Indian Steel industry has succeeded to sustain its positive growth momentum supported by strong economic fundamentals. The other positives of the Indian Economy include its focus on infrastructure, growing foreign investment and rising consumer durables demand. He expressed concern over the many impediments in realization of this charted growth and called for change of its business model with regard to iron ore export emphasizing export of finished goods rather than iron ore and be a value creating nation rather than commodity producing nation. Pointing out to the fact that more than 60 % of the production cost is contributed by raw materials for plants without captive mines for iron ore and coking coal, Mr. Bishnoi urged the Government to provide adequate support for ensuring availability of the key raw materials at a reasonable cost to ensure a competitive steel industry. Mr. AP Choudhary, Director (Projects), RINL-VSP welcomed the Honourable Minister of Steel, Mr. Beni Prasad Verma and profusely thanked him for taking keen interest in the expansion of RINL-VSP and SAIL and for taking steps for rural distribution of steel and for the new steel policy. Mr. PK Misra, Secrteary (Steel), Mr CS Verma, Chairman of SAIL, TK Chand, Director (Commercial) and other important officials from steel industry were present.

Vice Admiral Ganesh Mahadevan, AVSM VSM, Chief of Material, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) arrived Visakhapatnam today, 26 Jul 11, on a two day visit to the Eastern Naval Command. The Admiral chaired the Mid Year Refit and Infrastructure Review 2011 held at Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam).The Conference is an apex body that formulates long term maintenance plan for all ships and submarines. Speaking on the occasion, the Flag Officer lauded the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam on its performance in adopting various innovative processes and technologies for undertaking prompt repairs on operational as well as refits ships thereby delivering Quality Ships on Time. The Conference was also attended by Rear Admiral Dinkar Sharma, Assistant Chief of Material (D&R); Rear Admiral Jaywant Korde, VSM, Assistant Controller of Logistics from IHQ MoD(N); and other senior delegates from Eastern Command of the Indian Navy and Andaman & Nicobar Joint Command. Admiral Mahadevan is also scheduled to visit various Naval organisations prior departure on Wednesday, 27 Jul 11

Sri AP Choudhary, Director(Projects), RINL and Chairman, Computer Society of India (CSI) Visakhapatnam Chapter has released Brochure of "CSI National Student convention 2011 (NSC-2K11)" on 23-07-2011 at Hill top Guest House of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. After released the Brochure, Sri Choudhary clued-up the Theme of the convention is ‘NXT GEN COMPUTECH". The convention organized by CSI and hosted by Dept. of CSE, IT and MCA of GIET, Rajahmundry will be held during Sep 23rd to Sep 24th ‘11 at GIET. He also said that this is a great opportunity to the students for submitting their Papers, Poster and Project Exhibition (Software and Hardware Exhibition) and Movie Making. There are about nine events like Paper & Poster Presentation, Project Exhibition (Software and Hardware Exhibition), Movie Making, Technical Quiz, Brain Drain (Code Debugging), LAN Gaming, Treasure Hunt and Spot Events and also parallel work shop on ANDROID and Mobile Technology. A poster on the Convention was also released on the occasion by Vice-Chairman, Computer Society of India (CSI) Visakhapatnam Chapter and Director(Finance), RINL, Sri P Madhusudhan. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan who is on a three-day tour of the district worshipped the presiding deity of Simhachalam Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy, went on a boat ride in the sea and visited the zoo and Kailasagiri, the picturesque hill-top tourist destination, on the first day on Monday. The Governor who arrived by Visakha Express was welcomed at the railway station by Tribal Welfare Minister P. Balaraju, Mayor Pulusu Janardhana Rao, District Collector Lav Agarwal, Visakhapatnam Range DIG Soumya Mishra, Police Commissioner J. Purnachandra Rao, Joint Collector M. Girija Sankar and VUDA Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar. Mr. Narasimhan reached the Government Circuit House where PCC President and Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana and MLAs Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, Malla Vijaya Prasad, UV Ramana Murthy Raju, P. Rameshbabu, Ch. Venkatramaiah, V. Ramakrishnababu and KSN Raju called on him. Later, the Governor, accompanied by wife Vimala Narasimhan and family members went on a ride on a special boat from Visakhapatnam Port. At the Port they were welcomed by Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman Ajeya Kallam. They later visited the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park and went around in a battery-operated vehicle. From there, they went to Haritha resorts at Rushikonda and had lunch. In the afternoon, the Governor and his wife worshipped at Simhachalam. He was received with ‘poornakumbham.' After embracing the Kappastambham (said to fulfil wishes) and ‘pradikshana' of bedamantapam, head priest Morta Sitaramacharyulu conducted the archana. ‘Seshavastram' and ‘prasadam' were presented to them. Mr. Narasimhan told reporters there that he prayed for a prosperous and peaceful State. He later reached Kailasigiri and performed a pooja at the statues of Lord Siva and Parvati. He also took a ride on the ropeway.

The Board of Directors of RINL inaugurated various auxiliary units which are critical to expansion of 6.3 Million tons on Monday. Mr. PK Bishnoi, CMD of RINL-VSP inaugurated the ‘Coke Oven Boosting Station’. The Coke Oven Gas boosting Station boosts CO Gas pressure of 500-600 mmWC to 1500 mmWC and caters to the CO gas requirement of all the expansion units. Mr. Machendranathan, IAS, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Steel inaugurated the new ‘Gas mixing station’ installation, wherein three different types of gases will be mixed and homogenized. This includes mixing of gases of different calorific values so as to get final calorific value of 2000 Kcal/NM3 which is the requirement of reheating furnaces for billets in Rolling Mills and also for the new steel melt shop.. The project has been executed by M/s Instrumentation Limited, Kota and associates at a cost of around Rs 10 Crores The Independent Directors, Mr. APVN Sarma, IAS (Rtd) Mr. Swash Pawan Singh, IFS (Rtd) and Mr. HS Chahar, IAS (Rtd) and Dr UD Choubey inaugurated the Chilled Water Plant - V which has 10 pumps with a capacity of 1000 ton refrigerant with incoming temperature of 18 -20 degrees Celsius to the condensers and out going chilled water has a temperature of 7-8 degrees Celsius. The Project was executed by M/s Indian diary Manufacturing Company Ltd, Anand at a cost of Rs 36 Crores Dr Dalip Singh, IAS, Joint secretary, Ministry of Steel inaugurated the drying of first Tundish a prerequisite activity of commissioning of new Steel Melt Shop.. Keeping in view the green steel concept and one tree for one ton of steel of RINL-VSP, the Chairman and Board of Directors planted trees in the plant. The Board of Directors complimented RINL Collective for their performance and concern for green environment. AP Choudhary, Director (Projects), YR Reddy, Director (Personnel), Senior Officials of RINL-VSP and other executing agencies and Union Leaders Mantri Rajasekhar, D Adinarayana, N Ramarao and others were present. Mr. AP Choudhary, Director (Projects) thanked the Board for their encouragement and support.

The Rotary Club of Visakhapatnam Central conducted their Installation Programme at The Park Hotel on Sunday, the 10th of July 2011 with Rear Admiral VK Nambala as Chief Guest and outgoing President Rtn. BP Chinoy and incoming Secretary Rtn. Seema Mohanty.
Prior to this several service projects were held including distribution of baby frocks and protein supplements to new born babies at the Maternity Ward of King George Hospital and donating of wax for making candles to Physically Challenged Association at Maharanipeta.

INDIAN NAVY VOLLEY BALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2011-12 CONCLUDED

Final of the Indian Navy Volley Ball Championship 2011-12 was held at Command Gymnasium, Visakhapatnam today, 15 Jul 11. The Championship was conducted by INS Circars from 12 - 15 Jul11. Three Commands of Indian Navy, South Naval Command, Western Naval Command and Eastern Naval Command participated in the Tourney. The championship was to select Navy team and to popularize Volleyball and generate a greater sportsman spirit among the service. The Championship was conducted on league cum knockout basis. Final match was played between ENC and SNC teams. South Naval Command stood as the winner and Eastern Naval Command as Runners up. Commodore GV Babu, VSM, Commanding Officer INS Circars was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony and gave away the prizes to the winner.

Lieutenant General NC Marwah, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command is on a three day visit to the Eastern Naval Command. On arrival at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, 13 Jul 11, the General Officer was received by Rear Admiral S Mital, Chief Staff Officer (Technical), Eastern Naval Command. The General held discussions with Vice Admiral Anup Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and attended a briefing on the role and functions of the Command. General Marwah visited the stealth frigate INS Shivalik, a submarine and several establishments of the Command including the Naval Dockyard today, 13 Jul 11. The General also visited Hindustan Shipyard Limited later and is also scheduled to attend a two-day Seminar on India China Relations to be held at Samudrika Naval auditorium on 14-15 Jul 11. The General Officer, who is also the Colonel Commandant of the Kumaon Regiment will also attend a Reunion of the Regiment with its affiliated naval unit, INS Khanjar prior departure on Saturday, 16 Jul 11.

SEMINAR ON INDIA AND CHINA RELATIONS INAUGURATED AT ENC

A two-day Seminar on Strategic Contours of India China Relations was inaugurated today, 14 Jul 11 at Samudrika Naval auditorium. Issues pertaining to strategic and security orientation in the Asian and global context, implications of military capabilities, economic and technological advances in furtherance of strategic goals as well as the challenges and opportunities for both nations would be analysed during the Sseminar being conducted by the Eastern Naval Command in association with National Maritime Foundation (NMF). The panel of distinguished speakers includes Rear Admiral (Retd) K Raja Menon, Shri B Raman of Centre for China Studies, Chennai, Dr C Raja Mohan of Centre for Policy Research, Brigadier (Retd) Arun Sehgal of IPCS and Dr Zorawar Daulet Singh of Centre for Policy alternatives, apart from research fellows of NMF. Commodore (Retd) Uday Bhaskar, Director, NMF delivered the Inaugural address whilst Vice Admiral Anup Singh, Flag Officer Commandingin-Chief Eastern Naval Command Welcomed the distinguished guests and delegates. Shri Shyam Saran, former Foreign Secretary of India and currently Chairman, Research and Information Systems for Developing Countries (RIS), delivered the Keynote Address. The proceedings of the seminar are being moderated by a panel of eminent chairpersons including Admiral (Retd) Arun Prakash, Chairman NMF and former Chief of Naval Staff and Shri Shyam Saran. Eminent personalities present at the event included Lieutenant General Bikram Singh General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Army Command Lieutenant General NC Marwah, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command and Shri Shakti Sinha, Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Island. The concluding address of the Seminar will be delivered by Admiral (Retd) Arun Prakash whilst Professor A Prasanna Kumar, Regional Director, NMF, Vizag chapter will deliver the Vote of Thanks. The Seminar, through the means of talks as well as discussions thereon, would enable the participants to not only obtain a holistic perspective of the nuances of Indio - China relations but also serve to focus attention on the opportunities for cooperation between the two nations.

Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command of the Indian Army, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Bubbles Singh, President, Family Welfare Organisation (Eastern Command) is on a four day visit to the Eastern Naval Command. On arrival at Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, 12 Jul 11, the General Officer was received by Rear Admiral KR Nair, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam). The General was the Chief Guest at the commissioning of the Fast Attack Craft, INS Koswari at the Eastern Naval Command. Later in the day, General Bikram Singh held discussions with Vice Admiral Anup Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command. The GOC-in-C also attended a briefing on the role and functions of the Command. The General visited the stealth frigate INS Shivalik, a submarine and several establishments of the Command including the School for Advanced Underwater Warfare (SAUW) and the Naval Dockyard today, 13 Jul 11. General Bikram Singh will also attend a Seminar on India China Relations scheduled to be held at Samudrika Naval auditorium on Thursday, 14 Jul 11. Mrs. Bubbles Singh interacted with the Committee Members and ladies of the Navy Wives Welfare Association (Eastern Region). Lieutenant General and Mrs. Bikram Singh are scheduled to depart Visakhapatnam on Friday, 15 Jul 11.

INS KOSWARI COMMISSIONED AT VISAKHAPATNAM

INS Koswari, the ninth indigenously built Fast Attack Craft (FAC) of the Indian Navy was commissioned by Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command of the Indian Army at the Naval Base here today, 12 Jul 11, at a colourful ceremony. Vice Admiral Anup Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and Rear Admiral (Retd) KC Sekhar, Chief Managing Director, GRSE were present on the occasion. The ceremony was also attended by several senior officers and men of the Navy along with their families. On arrival at the Naval Jetty the Chief Guest was received by Vice Admiral Anup Singh. The General Officer was presented a Guard of Honour and introduced to the Ships Officers thereafter. Following the inaugural and keynote addresses delivered by Rear Admiral K C Sekhar (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Limited, and Vice Admiral Anup SIngh respectively, Lieutenant Commander Anil Kumar, Commanding Officer INS Koswari, read out the Commissioning Warrant. Hoisting of the Naval Ensign onboard for the first time and Breaking of the Commissioning Pennant with the National Anthem being played marked the formal Commissioning Ceremony. Lieutenant General Bikram Singh addressed the gathering on completion of the Ceremony and unveiled the Ships Plaque. Conceived, designed and built indigenously at M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd. of Kolkota, this small yet highly manoeuvrable craft is ideally suited for deployment along the coast. Its ability to operate in shallow waters at high speeds, day-night surveillance capability coupled with enhanced fire power is expected to give the requisite impetus to combating asymmetric threats emanating from the sea. Named after an island off Tuticorin, INS Koswari, measuring 52 meters in length and displacing 325 tons, can achieve speeds in excess of 30 Knots. The Ship has a complement of four officers and 35 sailors. Built for extended coastal and offshore surveillance and patrol, with advanced MTU engines and latest communication sets, INS Koswari will be based at Karwar, under the Naval Officer-in-Charge (Karnataka) and will be deployed for Coastal Patrol and Anti-Piracy missions along the Konkan Coast and the Lakshadweep group of islands.

‘Rangarang Hasya Kavi Sammelan-cum-Mushairaa’ was organized on 11th July, 2011 in Ukkunagaram Club, RINL, VSP. This program was organized by Hindi Cell of VSP and presented by Rachanakar Sahitya Sansthan, Surat, consisting of eminent poets and appreciated by one and all. Famous Hasya Kavi and Laughter Channel Fame Sri Albela Khatri, comperor of this program presented poems related to laughter and political issues. Sri Yogendra Moudgil, renowned Hasya Kavi and Critic from Panipat, Haryana in his presentation, focused on social subjects. Gazal and Shayari presented by Sri Govind Rathi, Ujjain mesmerized large number of people. Hasya Shayari was presented in a nice way and made an excellent impression amongst audience by Janab Jalal Maikash, Bhopal. The famous poetess Smt. Urmila Urmi made her strong presence by her melodious poems. This program was inaugurated by Sri P K Bishnoi, CMD, RINL. Sri. YR Reddy, Director (Personnel), Commandant (CISF), senior officials, employees of VSP and their families and large number residents of Ukkunagaram and invitees from City enjoyed the program. The officials representing various member organizations of Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Visakhapatnam were also present.

MEDICAL CAMP BY ENC DOCTORS HELD AT PONDURU

A free Medical Camp was organised at Ponduru village in Srikakulam District by INHS Kalyani under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command and The Navy Wives Welfare Association (Eastern Region) on 10 Jul 11. The Camp was graced by Mrs. Nani Singh, President, NWWA (E/R) along with other senior functionaries of the association. Shri Buddha Palli Satyawati, MLA, Shri N Venkat Ram Reddy, IAS, District Collector and Shri M Kattam Raju, Assistant Director Handloom also attended the Event and expressed their gratitude to the Navy for their commitment to the welfare of the local populace in general and handloom weavers of the State in particular.
The overwhelming response to the earlier Camps has made this an annual feature since 2009. Surgeon Commodore B Fanthome, Commanding Officer, INHS Kalyani stated that this years Camp covered the fields of paediatrics, dermatology and dental surgery in addition to ophthalmology, general OPD and on-the-spot Laboratory investigations. The camp also sought to enhance awareness on matters of sanitation and hygiene. Residual spraying, anti-larval measures and anti-adult mosquito fogging were also carried out.
The Camp held at the Community Hall of the Ponduru Weavers Cooperative Society was attended by over 500 villagers who utilised the medical facilities provided by a team of ten medical officers and 24 assistants. Ladies of the Arogya group of Navy Wives Welfare Association also participated actively in the Camp.

Local MLA Sri Dronamrajau conveyed his best wishes and lauded the untiring efforts of Dr.C. Mangamma for her services to the poor and needy. Speaking on the occasion, they lauded Dr.Mangamma’s efforts in serving the society for the last 52 years by conducting thousands of safe deliveries with excellence in entire Visakhapatnam district and for saving many lives with care and concern and service motto. Dr.Mangamma was the first lady to start a private hospital in Vizag and always encouraged and motivated the parents that a “female a child is as good as a male child”. Strongly guided and blessed by Bhagavan Sri Sathya Saibaba personally, she took inspiration from him and with a service motto, she took a mere Rs.5(rupees five only) as a nominal consultation fee throughout her practice. When there was a complete bandh in Government hospitals during the Andhra movement, she was the only lady doctor who took initiative and conducted free Gynaecology related operations for the poor patients in the present Lepakshi building in those days. Dr.Mangamma conducted several free medical camps at Puttaparthi under the guidance of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Saibaba. She has been running a free clinic at Simhachalam on Sundays for the last 30 years for the poor and downtrodden. Her motivator was her husband late RAMANA garu. S/Sri S. Hemantha Kumar, District Youth Congress President, Bhavani Shankar, Secretary, BC Cell, Congress and several well wishers have participated in the felicitation programme.

Children perform dance drama Bhakta Salabega at Ukkunagaram

One devotional dance drama Bhakta Salabega was staged on Friday evening by the child artists under the auspice of the Utkalika Cultural Association of Ukkunagaram, at Sri Jagannath temple complex as a part of the Rathyatra celebration. The drama was about Bhakta Salabega, the Great Devotee of Lord Jagannath. The theme of the drama is as follows: When Salabega was a kid, once he got stricken by a severe disease and all the doctors had left the hope of survival, he then prayed to Lord Jagannath and finally got cured. Subsequently he became a great devotee of Lord Jagannath. Once during Rathyatra, Salabega was out of town and could not reach in time to see The Lord on the chariot. He prayed to Lord Jagannath to wait until he could come. He started weeping and suddenly the chariot stopped. Finally when Salabega came near the chariot and offered prayers to the Lord, the chariot started moving on its own. And there after all the priests could realize that Salabega was the greatest devotee of The Lord. The main character Salabega was performed by Miss Parna Pallavi. Stage music was given by Sri Ravi Mohapatra and Sri S Gone. Dance choreography was done by Mrs. Vaishali. The drama was witnessed by Sri Biren Routray, phenomenal dashing actor of the Oriya Film Industries. At the end, Sri PC Mohapatra, GM (Maint)I/c of VSP gave away the prizes.

YR Reddy Elected as Chairman of ISTD, Visakhaptnam Chapter

Mr. YR Reddy, Director (Personnel) of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was unanimously elected as Chairman of Indian Society of Training and Development (ISTD), Visakhaptnam Chapter. At the Annual General Body Meeting held in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday the body elected the new executive committee for the year 2011-12. Mr. Reddy holds an MA in IRPM with a Gold Medal and MBA from Andhra University besides Diploma in German from MAX Mueller Bhawan, Rourkela. Mr. Reddy has rich and varied experience in Human Resource Management (HRM). He is visiting faculty for MBA and MHRM Programs of Andhra, Nagarjuna and Kakatiya Universities of Andhra Pradesh. He is a life member of NIPM and was its Secretary and member of its National council. Many of his articles and papers were published in reputed Personnel Management Journals. He visited University of Maryland, USA in 2007. ISTD established in 1970 is a national level professional non profit society registered body with large membership across the country with from industries and institutions involved in training and development in Human Resource development. Mr. DS Varma of Essar steel as Vice chairman, KNS Prakasa Rao, Government Polytechnic College as Secretary and Dr K Raja Sekhar of DCI as Treasurer were elected.

Ratha Yatra (Car festival) the most auspicious festival of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra was celebrated with fanfare and gaiety amidst "Haribol" chanting by the devotees and to the accompaniment of the music from mridang, cymbals and conches on 03.07.2011at Ukkunagaram. Sri P.K.Bishnoi, CMD of VSP accompanied by Mrs. Anitha Bishnoi, invited the Lord to the Chariot. Donned with the traditional costumes of the King, Sri Bishnoi performed "Chherapanhara", the sweeping of the Chariot with Golden Broom. Thereafter, thousands of devotees pulled the Chariot along the streets of Ukkunagaram. Bhajans and dance troupes performed along the Lords Yatra route. Sri. Umesh Chandra, Director (Operations), Sri. AP Choudhary, Director (Projects), Sri. P. Madhusudan, Director (Finance) and Sri. TK Chand, Director (Commercial) along with families offered prayers to Lord Jagannath. Grand Handloom and Handicrafts Exhibition cum Sale was inaugurated in the Temple premises on the occasion by Smt. Anitha Bishnoi, President, Visteel Mahila Samithi. The Exhibition will be kept open for the publich from 3rd to 13th July, 2011 from 10 AM to 9 PM everyday. The evening was vibrant with Odissi and Sambalpuri folk Dance by "NARTAKI" Bhubaneswar, which was sponsored by Dept. of Cultural, Govt. of Odisha. Earlier on 01.07.2011, Sri Bishnoi offered the first pooja to the Lord and had the first darshan of the Lord – "Naba Youvana Darshan" as per tradition as is performed by the Gajapathi King at Puri.

Hundreds participated in this mega devotional rally as a step towards rededicating themselves towards various noble Service activities and spreading the feeling of Love and concern for the Humanity as advocated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Saibaba. The above programme is being organized by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Visakhapatnam District. The rally showcased the unstinted love and devotion towards Bhagavan Sri Sathya SaiBaba. “SRI SATHYA SAI PREMAVAHINI Rally” comprised of Mahanagara Sankirthana( Rally with devotees singing Bhajans etc.,), Veda Pathanam( Chanting of Vedas), cultural programmes by Balvikas children, Kolatam, fashion dress depicting Mother India, display of playcards with Baba’s quotes such as “LOVE ALL- SERVA ALL, HELP EVER-HURT NEVER” etc., was simultaneously organized by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithis of Ukkunagaram, Simhachalam, Gazuwaka, Kurmannapalaem, Yelamanchili, Anakapalli and Sri Sathya Sai City Seva Samithi located at MVP Colony. The rally in the city started from Port Stadium, Akkayyapalem and passed through Balayya Sastry layout, Abhaya Anjaneya swamy temple, Alluri Seetharamaraju statue, seethammadhara, HB Colony, Venkojipalem petrol bunk, MVP double road, TTD circle and will finally reached Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar School amidst chanting of bhajans and vedams. The programme concluded with Haarathi to Bhagavan Sri Sathya Saibaba. Several office bearers, hundreds of devotees, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of sri sathya sai vidya vihar school,well-wishers, Sevadal Members, Balvikas children participated in this massive rally.
