Banks Strike

Employees and officers belonging to various public sector banks gathered in front of the SBI branch near old Jail Road Junction in response to a two-day strike on Wednesday and Thursday to protest against the policies of the managements and the Government.

Coastal Cleanup day observed by ENC

The ‘International Coastal and Waterfront Clean up Day’ was observed by the Eastern Naval Command on 20 September 08. A large scale clean up drive was held all along the prominent beaches and water fronts of the city. The Naval community at Visakhapatnam represented by over 1200 personnel comprising officers, men, ladies and children from various units of the Command undertook the cleanup drive in earnest. The event covered areas widely dispersed around the city and outskirts, covering the Ramakrishna, Rushikonda and Kalinga beaches, and waterfronts along the Tenneti Park, Double Bridge and the Naval Dockyard. The Clean Beach Drive was flagged off by Rear Admiral RK Dhowan, Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command, from the Ramakrishna beach.

Yachting Championship at ENC

Eastern Naval Command Yachting championship 2008-09 conducted at Naval Sailing Club, Visakhapatnam by INS Circars from 15 to 18 Sep 08, concluded today, 18 Sep 08. The Event held in the Triangle Loop Finish Format was contested by the six standard Groups of the Command across six categories, three each in Officers and in Sailors based on age and rank respectively. Additionally, a race each in Team and Open categories were introduced this year. A total of 72 personnel forming 36 teams participated in the Championship spread over four days.
