Model VIMS Hospital at Visakhapatnam

Model miniature of Visakha Institute of Medical Science (VIMS) super speciality hospital being constructed at Old Dairy Farm in the city, will be ready with 450 beds and 15 super speciality departments in five blocks by January 2009.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) took over Bharat Heavy Plate & Vessels (BHPV) and signed MoU with APGENCO for Nation's biggest 125 MW Integrated Coal Gasification Combined Cycle Power Plant on Saturday, 10th May 2008 at BHPV Campus, Visakhapatnam.

The following was issued by India Meteorological Department on 02.05.08:
The very severe cyclonic storm “NARGIS” over East central Bay of Bengal moved further eastwards and lay centred at 1430 hours IST of 2nd May, 2008 over East central Bay of Bengal near lat. 16.0º N and long. 94.0º E, close to southwest coast of Myanmar. The system is likely to move in a easterly direction and cross Myanmar coast near latitude 16.0º North within a few hours.

Expected conditions: rain/thundershower is likely at many places with isolated heavy falls over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during next 24 hours. Gale wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph is likely over Andaman Islands and adjoining sea areas during next 24 hours. Sea condition will be very rough to high around Andaman Islands. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
