Krishnastami celebrations Chinmaya Mission

Janmashtami (Krishnaashtami as it is popularly known here) is celebrated with pomp and gaiety in Vizag on the 26th of July, 2005. Children dressed in Lord Krishna's attire played with gopikas  and the young were charged up to break the 'utti' (pot filled with curd).

Music director U. Vidya Sagar and singer S.P. Balu

Renowned South Indian music director and recipient of this year National Award for best music direction in Telugu film 'Swarabhishekam', Sri U. Vidya Sagar was decorated with "Suvarnakankanam" by the Chief guest of the function Dr. S.P. Bala Subramaniam at the Vuda Children's Theatre on the 20th of August, 2005. Municipal Commissioner Mr. N. Srikanth, Former Rajya Sabha member Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, and Prof A. Prasanna Kumar were present at the function. Sri Vidya Sagar who hails from Vizianagaram has carved a niche for himself by scoring music in all regional languages of South, with his recent success 'Chandramukhi', starring Rajnikanth Sri. Vidya Sagar has become the most preferred choice in the South.

The Chairman of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA), Mr. P.S.N. Raju (Ravi) launched Ashok Leyland's new ECOMET 1112 vehicle on the 18th of August 2005. "Customer need is the topmost priority of Ashok Leyland" said M.Ramakrishna Rao, the Branch Manager, Automotive Manufactures Private Ltd., Visakhapatnam.

The students of various schools in the city performing 'Vandeswatantryamaataram' at Gurazada Kalakshetram on the 16th of August, 2005 at  Gurazada Kalakshetram. The programme which was to be held on the Independence Day has been postponed to Tuesday due to the  Makthal incident in Mehboobnagar district.

Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan left the music lovers gathered at the Kalabharati Auditorium in ecstasy on the 13th of August, 2005. Earlier, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan  was conferred with a title 'Naada Vidya Bharathi' by Visakha Music and Dance Academy.

The Minister of Commercial Taxes, Mr. Konthala Ramakrishna receiving the guard of honour at the Police Stadium on the occasion of Independence Day on the 15th of August, 2005. Brazil v/s Netherlands Match

Brazil's (Green) triple block, up against a formidable offensive of Netherlands team (Black) in a Pool-B league encounter of the 13th World Men's U21 Volleyball Championship - 2005 held at Swarnabharati Indoor Stadium on the 8th of August, 2005. Title favourite, Brazil posted their third consecutive victory in Pool-B beating Netherlands by 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 25-17. In Pool-A, the host India crashed to its second defeat in three matches. Indian team lost to Asian Champion Korea in three straight sets 16-25, 21-25, 16-25. With this defeat India's chances have lessened to make it into top four.

The Thrill Drive

"Adventure Zone", a new club formed recently to promote adventure sports and activities in Vizag had organised a treasure hunt for two wheelers. 'The Thrill Drive' was held on the 31st of July, 2005. The Curator of Indira Gandhi Zoological Park. Mr. B. Vijay Kumar flagged off the event at the YMCA, Beach Road. Justin Joseph, the President of Adventure Zone said that the event not related to speed or racing but to explore the intrinsic beauty of the nature.
