TRAINING
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE:
The course in general nursing shall be of 3 1/2 years duration as follows:
  • Two years theory and practice in general nursing and one year community health nursing and midwifery and Six months Intership.

  • The maximum hours per week per student shall be 36 hours which includes instruction and clinical/field experience.

Class RoomPRELIMINARY PERIOD:
There shall be a preliminary period of 12 weeks. During this time she will go to the wards in the hospital for observation and supervised practice not exceeding 16 hours per week. An examination to assess the students ability to continue the course shall be held in the 11th and 12th week. Successful candidates only will be allowed to continue the course.

Laboratory
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:

Students will be assigned to observe and practice what they have learnt in the clinical area  under careful supervision i.e. in the King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam and other hospitals in the city.

NIGHT SHIFT:
Students must be under the supervision of a registered nurse when assigned to the night shift. This assignment will not be given until after the first year and it will be for a total of eight weeks during the entire course.


VACATION HOLIDAYS:

30 days of vacation holidays and 10 days sick leave per year be will counted towards the period of training. Sick leave will not be accumulated year after year and 7 days as preparation holidays will be allotted in every year before government examinations.
