India chases huge target, Kohli supports with a ton, India bt Windies by 5 wickets at Vizag : After having failure support from the bowlers, Virat Kolhi, the rising star successfully obstructed the West Indies bowlers on Friday here in the city. Team India continuous victory it the on going One Day International series, beating West Indies by 5 wickets at ACA- VDCA stadium. During the second Day and Night match between India and West Indies, this Man of the Match winner placed his team with a ton (117 runs, 123 ball, 14 boundaries) and cool support from Rohit Sarma (90 not out, 98 balls, 7 boundaries and 2 sixes) made 163 runs for the fourth wicket. Batting first Windies could make 269 runs in stipulated 50 overs. Opener made Simmons 78 and tailender Ravi Rampaul finished the innings with blasting score 86 runs (66 balls, 6 boundaries, 6 sixes) turned the match towards his team. Yadav took 3 wickets, Vinay Kumar and Jadeja took 2 each. Cricket lovers in the city supported the Indian team from first ball onwards. Officials in the district including District Collector Lav Agarwal, Commissioner of Police, J. Purnachandra Rao, DIG Sowmya Mishra, Assistant Collector Hari Chandana, Vice Chairman- VUDA Kona Sasidhar, and others witnessed the match from the stands.

All ready for Day and Night match : Team India and West Indies have arrived here on Wednesday. Both the teams were received warm welcome from the Vizagites. Cricket lovers in large number rushed to see the youngstar at the Hotel Grand Bay where these teams were accommodated. Students from corporate schools were given a chance to welcome the cricketers. Traditional welcome was given to them with Thimsa, a tribal dance, offering sindhur and boquet to each one of them. Later in the evening some of them were left to the stadium for the practice under floodlights. Match scheduled on December 2. Meanwhile all the tickets were sold on day one ie., Tuesday. Cricket lovers rushed to the ACA- VDCA stadium for the additional tickets. Number of free and donar passes were restricted and there is no exception to anyone, according to organisers. Video coverage in the stadium during the match is prohibited. All the necessary details were printed on each ticket including entry gate, seat number. Stadium being situated at the National Highway, all the heavy vehicles from Vizianagaram will be diverted through Anandapuram Junction till the match completes.

Get Set Go for ODI : All the necessary arrangements were over, officials, organisers and cricket lovers are waiting the for the toss at the ACA- VDCA stadium, where the second One Day International Cricket match between India and West Indies scheduled to be held on December 2 in Visakhapatnam. Both the teams will arrive here on Wednesday by Jet Airways. Flood lights will be inspected once again on Tuesday by officials of Board of Cricket Control in India. Tickets for the match are available at all the e-Seva centres in the city, two additional counters were opened at the venue. E-seva centres at Suryabagh, Seethammadhara, Beach Road, China Waltair, RK mission Library, Akkayyapalem, Gnanapuram, Kancharapalem, Madhavadhara, Gajuwaka, Chinagantyada, Pedagantyada, Vadlapudi, Malkapuram, Arilova, Tagarapuvalasa, Bheemili and two centres in Anakapalle are issuing the match tickets in Rs. 200, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 3000 denomination. GM Chess tourney from Nov 24 : Vizag GM International Open Chess tournament will be held from November 24 th onwards. According to the organising committee, it would be a golden opportunity for Fide rated players to improve their rating and have better norms. Minister of State for Human Resources Development D. Purandheswari will inaugurate the tournament on November 23rd ie on Wednesday. About 300 players are going to take part in it, of which 16 Grand Masters ( Six from India) and 35 International Masters (33 from India) already confirmed their entries and many more to confirm. The tournament will be held in 11 rounds in swiss system. Winner in the tournament will get 2 lakh rupees cash award, second will receive 1.30 lakh rupees and 80, 000 for the third position. Cash prizes are allowed for top 30 positions. Apart from it there will be more cash awards for the first three positions in different rating games. Prof. R. Anantha Rao (Shivakasi) is the chief arbiter. Mr. P. Balaraju, Minister of State for Tribal Welfare, Mr. P. Janardhana Rao, Mayor, Mr. Lav Agarwal, District Collector, Mr. Dronamraju Srinivas (MLA- Visakha South), Mr. Tynala Vijay Kumar (MLA- Visakha North), Mr. M. SUBMARINES TEAM BAGS THE ENC AQUATIC CHAIMPIONSHIP 2011-12

The Eastern Naval Command Aquatic Championship being held at Command Swimming Pool by INS Circars under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command concluded today, 14 Oct 11. All ships and establishments of Eastern Naval Command including outstation units took part in the Event held over five days commencing 10 Oct 11. The participants were grouped into six teams that competed across 20 disciplines including Diving and Water Polo, Commodore GV Babu, Commanding Officer, INS Circars was the Chief Guest at the concluding Ceremony. Submarines Team with 145 points won the Overall Championship. Fleet A was the runner-up with 131 points. The Water Polo Championship was won by Local Ashore Team. Lieutenant CM Rajsekhar, of Fleet B Team who won six Medals was adjudged the Best Swimmer of the Championship. Commodore Babu gave away the prizes to the individual winners and trophies to the winning Teams.

NAVY HANDBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 20110-12 CONCLUDED: Navy Handball Championship 2011-12 being held from 11 Oct 11 at Dolphin Sports Grounds of the Eastern Naval command concluded today, 14 Oct 11. Teams from the Eastern, Western and Southern Naval Commands comprising 16 players each participated in the four-day event conducted by INS Virbahu. The aim of the Championship was to select outstanding athletes for representing the Indian Navy in Handball at the Services Competitions. The final of the Tournament was played between the Eastern and the Western Naval Command teams. The keenly contested Match saw the Eastern Naval Command emerge as the winners of the Navy Handball Championship for the year 2011-12, with a score of 31 to 27 of the Western Naval Command, the runners up. The Chief Guest on the occasion, Commodore Sanjay Mahindru, Commanding Officer (Designate), INS Arihant gave away prizes and trophies to the winners and runners up teams.

The finals between India and Srilanka will be held on Sunday at the ongoing Quadrangular Under 19 Cricket series at ACA- VDCA Cricket Stadium. These top two leaders in this series had good potential in both batting and bowling. Whereas rest of the two teams Australia and West Indies will fight for the third and fourth places at Port Stadium on the same day. In the strengthless matches on Friday, India beat West Indies by 81 runs at ACA- VDCA Cricket Stadium and Australia beat Srilanka by 2 wickets at Port Diamond Jubilee stadium. India set a target of 250 to West Indies, Deobrat contributed 75 runs (4 fours, 2 sixes), followed by Manan Vohra (44 runs), and Aparajith (34 runs not out). Chasing the target of 250 runs, West Indies could made only 168 runs in 40.5 overs. Hodge, Alleyne and Mayers scored 31 runs each. In another match, Srilanka scored 296 runs in stipulated 50 overs, AJ Jayasinghe played captain's innings with unbeaten 102 runs ( 11 fours, 1 six) and supported by DS Weerakkody 78 runs (14 fours) made 140 runs for the fourth wicket. Australians equally fought the win. Wicket keeper Bancroft's 106 runs brought Aussies ahead in the game and was extremely supported by Patterson with 74 runs.
India team leading the series with 23 points (6 matches played, 6 won), Srilanka with 13 points (6 matches played, 4 won), Australia 9 points ( 6 played, 2 won) and West Indies 4 points (6 matches, 1 won).

Team India strikes one more time in the ongoing Quadrangular Under 19 Cricket Series in Visakhapatnam on Monday. Leading the tournament India scored 19 points, followed by Sub continent country Srilanka with 13 points after the completion 4 matches each. Chasing a target of 174 runs Indian batsman Aparajith made unbeaten 48 runs (8 fours), Akshadeep Nath supported him with 39 runs, Hyderabadi Hanuman Vihari 36 runs contributed its four wicket victory against Australia at ACA- VDCA Stadium on Monday. Earlier, Australia made 173 runs in 48.5 overs of which Captain Patterson shared 61 runs to his team. Sandeep Sharma took four wickets for 27 runs, Aparajith with 3 wickets for 34 runs. With this match India had 5 points. In another match at Port Diamond Jubilee Stadium West Indies team set a target of 259 runs for Srilankan team with a big contribution 152 runs between J. Greaves (90 runs -7 fours and 3 sixes), K. Hodge (unbeaten 80 runs -5 fours and 1 six) for sixth wicket in Windies team. Chasing 259 runs, Srilankan batsman shared equal runs to get success. Weerakkody (47 runs ), Madushanka (42 runs ), Fernando (40 runs) entertained the audience by sending the ball to the fence at frequent intervals. Next matches will be on October 5 (Wednesday) between India Vs Srilanka (at Port Stadium) and Australia Vs West Indies (at ACA- VDCA stadium), Oct 7 : India Vs West Indies at (at Port Stadium) and Srilanka Vs Australia (at ACA- VDCA stadium).

Team India of Under-19 is continuing its winning stories at the on going quadrangular cricket series in Visakhapatnam. India is leading the series with 14 points, followed by Srilanka with 9, Australia with 5 points after completion of three matches each as on Saturday. India beat Westindies by 124 runs at Port Diamond Jubilee stadium and Srilanka beat Australia by 86 runs at Dr. YSR ACA-VDCA stadium at Pothinamallayyapalem. Batting first India scored 315 runs in stipulated 50 overs. Indian lost its dashing opener Manan Vohra at the very first ball of the match. Captain Unmukth Chand (66 runs- 6 fours and 2 sixes) and Hanuman Vihari (Hyderabadi, 68 runs 9 boundaries) played balancing game and made 143 runs patnership for the second wicket. Aparajith made 42 runs and back as fourth wicket. Akshadeep Nath (82 runs) and Deobrat (37 runs) completed the Indian innings at 315 runs by making an unbeaten 99 runs for the fifth wicket partnership. Chasing a target of 316 runs Westindies fell down to 191 runs in 43.5 overs. Top scorer in Windies team is JD Campbell (28 runs) followed by Ambris. For India, Aparajith grabbed 4 wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs. In another match at ACA - VDCA stadium, Srilankan team damaged the Austalian batting order and continued their hold throughout the match. Batting first Srilanka scored 225 runs of which Madushanka only crossed half century (56 runs). Stanlake got 4 wickets, Austin Turner 3 wickets, Murhead 2. Chasing the target of 226 Australian batsmen bowled out for 139 runs which is the lowest score so far in this series.

Hyderabadi Vihari's half century keeps Team India top position by beating visiting Srilankan team in quadrangular U-19 Cricket Tournament in Visakhapatnam. Hanuman Vihari- the only Andhra Pradesh player representing Team India U-19 made 51 runs against Srilanka at the fourth match in this series on Thursday at ACA- VDCA Cricket stadium on Thursday. India beat Srilanka by 1 wicket. Sri Lanka made 184 runs for the loss of 9 wickets against Team India. Opener Fernando scored 70 in 79 balls with 11 boundaries. Sandeep Sharma took 4 wickets for 38 runs, Passi, Kalaria and Aparajith grabbed one wicket each. Chasing the target of 185 runs, Indian team struggled for some time and lost 7 wickets for 108 runs. Vihari and Kalaria charged Srilankan balls for boudaries. Kalaria made unbeaten 47 runs in 81 balls. India received 4 points with this win.

Australian team has registered their first win at the ongoing quadrangular U-19 Cricket Tournament at Port Diamong Jubilee stadium on Thursday. Austrains scored 330 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in stipulated 50 overs, Bancroft played captains knock with 104 runs including 7 fours and 4 sixes. He was supported by SJ Truloff (50 runs) with 83 runs partneship for the 4th wicket and A. Turner (66 runs) with 130 runs for 5th wicket. Chasing the target of 331 runs Windies could score only 193 runs in 39.3 overs. Opener Brathwaite made 59 runs could only crossed half century in Windies team. For Australia, S. Cassess grabbed 4 wickets for 26 runs, A. Turner 3 for 33 runs. Australia gets 5 points through this match.

Indian team has proved their talent by beating visiting Austrain team at the on going Quadrangular Cricket series for Under 19 boys here in city on Tuesday. This specatular win was witnessed by Port Diamond Jubilee Cricket Stadium here in city. Chasing a target of 164 runs Indian openers had made 167 runs without loosing a wicket only in 12 overs which will be a record in the history of cricket. Mr. Manan Vohra made 79 runs in 35 balls including 15 fours and 2 sixes, whereas Mr. Unmukth Chand scored 72 in 40 balls including 11 fours and 3 sixes and finished the match only in 12 overs. Team India has recorded first wing in this series. Winning the toss visiting Australia team could score only 163 runs in 41.1 overs (matches scheduled for 50 overs). Wicket keeper JJ Peirson (51 runs) was the top scorer in Australia team. For India, B. Aparajith took 5 wickets for 38 runs in 8.1 over. In another match is going at ACA- VDCA stadium in Pothinamallayya palem Srilanka beat Westindies by 2 wickets. Batting first Westindies scored 146 runs in 47.1 overs. K. Hodge (50 runs) and J. Greaves (33 runs) were the top scores, whereas VS de Mel took 4 wickets for 14 runs, G Deva and Madushanka took 2 wickets each. Chasing the target, Srilanka batsmen made 147 runs in 46.2 overs.
