Olivet School has
great pleasure in offering class-room instruction on a recorded course in Spoken English,
designed by BBC London for the benefit of learners with limited time at
their disposal.
The recorded course
and the accompanying text, satisfies all needs of Spoken English - Functional
Grammar, Vocabulary, Pronunciation and Conversational Practice. Recorded
drills and oral exercises supplement the corresponding lessons in the course.
The course emphasizes conversation practice with sufficient exercises in speech functions. It also
teaches briefly the principles and practices of public-speaking; offers practical guidance
in correct etiquette and manners; teaches the phonetic alphabet; guides learners in
facing interviews and group discussions and trains them in voice culture.
The participants
are expected to possess a fair knowledge of English. The course would be
ideally suited for graduates who have done their high school in the vernacular medium or
possess an equivalent knowledge of English.
Forthcoming sessions
will commence on a regular bi-monthly basis.
