Maharashtra Mandal Visakhapatnam was established in the year 1953 and registered under the societies Act No. 27/1961. The objective of setting up Maharashtra Mandal was to create a spirit of brotherhood among all, as well as a platform for meetings & get-togethers and also to provide facilities for social and cultural activities.

The affairs of Maharashtra Mandal are looked after by a Working Committee elected by its members and its accounts are audited every year by a chartered accountant.

Maharashtra Mandal started its activities from a small building and is now housed in a three-storey building that also has a big hall, a stage and two-room suite with a balcony and kitchen on the ground floor, and a mini hall with an open terrace on the first floor and guest rooms with 24 hrs water supply and phone lines for member Maharashtrians all over India. It also offers sports facilities like badminton and table tennis. The Maharashtra Mandal building is located centrally, close to the RTC complex, approx. 2 km from the railway station, and is one of the oldest institutions in the city of Visakhapatnam.
